Description: My take on the $1.6 billion offer from Google to buy YouTube. Not that it really matters what we, the community, thinks. If the VC that Chad (and buddies) borrowed their seed money from want their money, YouTube is going to have to sell. |

uSteltzen ::: Favorites 2007-08-24 19:06:06 They should keep it free. Google would be good idea for youtube. Youtube is just another website that gets webpage hits. It's popular because it's free. Google will expand the ability to make money off it's popularity and will be good for youtube as long as they don't change the framework that made it successful. __________________________________________________
kenrg ::: Favorites 2006-10-19 10:35:04 Too big a question for the limited space they give us here... Pissed at Google for the China thing, even though they've pulled back a bit, still... And you are absolutely correct that it CAN happen here, and WILL if people don't wake up to the fact that the Constitution is being rolled back day by day... but that's a topic for another video... __________________________________________________
dejahthoris ::: Favorites 2006-10-19 00:14:08 Who painted your ceiling and what do you think about the censorship aspect of Google, for instance in China, where they not only censor the web for the govt at their behest, but also turn in those who breach the govt laws against freedom of speech leading to their arrest? Are we naive enough to think that cannot happen here? __________________________________________________

jacemace ::: Favorites 2006-10-11 13:32:20 the vids aren't the greatest in quality etc., although the verisimiltude of egalitarianusm does exist and supposed amatuers can use this as a catalyst to professionalism, not having adds is really nice, although some embedded, manufactured adds acted in facade. The comparison to the rise of other previous communication mediums and their development, will probably in the future produce services from others on the net with payment, adds, services, quality et al. __________________________________________________

jacemace ::: Favorites 2006-10-11 13:31:15 economics 101 that I can hear from any of my profs at college...adds, some sort of net non-neutrality,following the isp providers with types of service premiums...unless you have some sort of monopolistic style like MS in operating software or most search engines and hardware provider such as chip makers...someone is always looking to snipe you, and youtube can quickly become just another service as others use this method of operation...cont. __________________________________________________

kenrg ::: Favorites 2006-10-10 17:57:56 With Google now in charge, I doubt we'll be paying anything to watch videos. Google has been successful at building free web tools that are fully advertising supported. I'm cautious about what will be coming our way, but optimistic on the balance. __________________________________________________ |
