One of the best if not the best scenes in any Star Trek movie or show of all time! Brilliant writing, acting and scene. Perfect: Kirk only saying one word as usual, "SPOCK!!". Perfect: Spock first straightening his uniform prior to speaking directly with his Captain and his best friend. Perfect: Kirk once again only replying to Spock with his name, "Spock". Perfect: Spock dying words are "Live long and prosper."

Have to agree, that was one of the most emotional and heartwrenching scenes in a movie ever. I can't imagine what it would have been like seeing it for the first time (by the time I saw it I knew he would come back to life... was still crushed by this scene). When he straightens his uniform it gets me every time. (PS the nerd in me couldn't help noticing that NCC-1701 seems to have Voyager's warp core!)

I saw this in the theaters for the summer of 1982, and Spock's death in "STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN", combined with Mickey's death in "ROCKY III" was very traumatic for a 12 year old. As shocking as seeing Superman lose his powers in "SUPERMAN II"(The Lester Cut) and seeing Han Solo frozen in "EMPIRE STRIKES BACK"

Spock is one of the most wonderful characters in the history of television and film. You know that while he justifies his sacrifice with logic ("The needs of the many..."), he gave his own life out of love for his friends and his fundamental appreciation of the lives of others.

Bar none, some of the finest acting either of these men has ever done. The moment as Spock adjusts his uniform before walking over blind to Kirk...his entire presence was true to the character like never before. These characters truly are brothers to each other, and I felt as though I'd lost someone in my own family seeing this.

I grew up with The Next Generation, so I never really connected with the original series or its characters. I definitely have to say though, this scene really is beautiful, and the film overall is amazing.
