Description:

Time lapse sequence shot using Pentax K110D and Harbortronics DigiSnap 2100 set to take a frame each 14 minutes 24 seconds. The time lapse spans 9 days. Two 90 watt compact floresecent lights where used for both the camera shooting light and the grow lights. The lights were set on a timer for 18 hours on and 6 off (for the health of the plants). The jump in the video is the 6 hour gap in the darkness. Amazing how fast the radishes grew. Music by Roland White - Gaieté Acadienne [CD-Trying to Get to You]. Hope you enjoy.

Hi, I am working on a television program for children in Palm Beach County, FL. We are a not for profit, government cable station and our show promotes literacy to children ages 2-6 through puppet skits and book readings. This current episode features lessons about planting and gardening. Is it possible for us to use your video as a quick transitional element in our show? We would be happy to give you a credit and a copy of the show.

I'm doing a project where I have to grow radish seeds in bags, but Im confused on the root and shoot parts of the seed. Does the shoot grow into a root, or is it something else? Im asking because my teacher wants us to take measurements of both and I only see the shoot growing. (I have to grow them over 10 days and today is day 1.)

Hi Inorth99, I have a much sharper .mp4 Quicktime 7 version on my web site that you should be able to download. Will try to send you the direct link in a private message. BTW - if anybody has trouble with the .mp4 version please let me know. I should be able to make a Mpeg 1 version that should play in just about any media player. Later, ML

Hi am408, I would happy to give it a go. I would need about 20 seeds, five for germination testing so I can estimate how long to run the camera and the rest for the shoot. You are welcome to send me a private message and we can go from there. Take care, ML

Are you referring to the jumps in growth? If so it was caused by the 6 hours of darkness I gave the plants to help them grow better. The radishes were under 18 hours of artificial light. BTW - a much sharper Quicktime version is available. Send me a PM and I can send you the link.
